7:00 P.M. - Jim Kestler presents "Jumpstart with Hyper-V": 

Hyper-V is Microsoft's virtualized computing platform. With it you can setup servers and workstations that run within your host PC for testing and evaluating new software. Using a virtualized test environment allows you to experiment without risk to your everyday PC. You can store your test machines on a hard drive and load them on demand.

This talk will focus on providing the basics needed get you working with Hyper-V and able to:

  Install Hyper-V on a Windows PC

  Create and set up a virtual machine

  Configure Networking to allow your virtual PC access to the outside world 

  Install a guest operating system such as Windows Server or Windows 10


If time permits, we'll cover the newest T-SQL features of SQL Server 2016 and  v.Next.

MDX 101 - Query SSAS Cube like a Jedi

Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) language is used to query SQL Server Analysis Services Cubes. This is a must know language if you query cubes. We will go over MDX basics and concepts such as sets, hierarchies and calculations. If you would like to follow along, please have Adventure Works 2012 cube installed on your laptop.
